SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK) is based in Copenhagen (CPH). Big news if you haven’t booked SAS with miles in a while: SAS left Star Alliance and joined SkyTeam in September 2024. Any old advice about booking SAS with United miles is dead. Today you search and book it with SkyTeam currencies instead.

How to search for SAS award space:

Step 1

Search on delta.com. Log in or create a free SkyMiles account and select Shop with Miles.

Step 2

Search routes touching Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm (ARN), or Oslo (OSL), like EWR-CPH, JFK-ARN, or intra-Scandinavia hops.

Step 3

Cross-check on Air France/KLM’s Flying Blue site and on flysas.com with a free EuroBonus account for the fullest picture.

Step 4

Book with the SkyTeam program your miles live in: Delta SkyMiles, Flying Blue, or SAS’s own EuroBonus. Flying Blue’s monthly Promo Rewards sometimes discount Scandinavia heavily.

Tips before you book

  • If you have United miles or other Star Alliance currencies earmarked for Scandinavia, they no longer work on SAS. Use them on Lufthansa Group carriers into Copenhagen or Oslo instead.
  • SAS business class to the US is a solid lie flat product, and Scandinavia’s off-season (October to April, minus holidays) shows the most space.
