United Airlines has done a good job of making award space available for itself & its partners, with one exception: Singapore Airlines. Why does this matter to you? It matters because if you are flying across the Pacific in Economy, no airline does it better than Singapore Airlines.

Doesn’t that sound like you’re flying Business Class rather than Economy? But of course, anything amazing rarely comes for free. On average, SQ tickets are 20% more than those on United! United Airlines knows it is a coveted product, so they made it a bit difficult to find. You can’t search for the award space online. So how do we do it? Thing is, you can book an award with Singapore Airlines and it costs the EXACT SAME amount of miles as flying with United Airlines. You just have to call them to book the ticket. Let me show you how to get around this little hurdle.

To search for Singapore Airlines award space, we will use the Aeroplan search engine, which is Air Canada’s frequent flyer program. Why Aeroplan? Unlike United Airlines, Aeroplan displays award space for all airlines, including Singapore Airlines. Their search engine is a bit more challenging to use, but don’t worry, I’ll guide you step-by-step.

How to search for award space on X:

To search for award space on X, you will need to use the United Airlines website, which is a partner of X.

Log in to your Aeroplan account. click here, If you don’t have an account, click Enroll Now.

Hover over Use Your Miles, and then click Travel.

Now that you are on the Travel Reward Search page, do the following:

  • Click Round-Trip
  • Enter departure city and arrival city
  • Enter desired departure date
  • Input the number of adults flying
  • Select desired cabin class

    • After filling out all the necessary information, click Search.

Make sure you are under the Fixed Mileage tab. Choose your preferred flight.

Choose your preferred flight. Select the flight to see the details of the flight you desire. Write down the following information: flight number, dates, and cabin class.

Step 6

Call the frequent flier program you are trying to redeem your miles on and ask to speak to an agent. Once he or she is on the line, state the flights you’ve found available award space on and they should be able to book the award for you.
